Margaret Ker (great niece): Mary basically ran many of the activities at St Michael's Neepsend for her father Rev. George Osborne because he was a widower. There was a severely disabled brother Hugh Carlton Osborne who died in 1910. After her father's death in 1916 she packed up all the family possessions and put them into storage and went out to Kenya to keep house for her brother as my grandmother, having lost her second child at birth, spent time at home in Yorkshire with her family. She is said to have "caught a chill" while playing tennis and was rushed to hospital where she died several days later. Have the doctor's note to grandfather advising that she was sinking and then an obituary recording her death. My grandmother, who was 10 years younger, found her rather 'worthy'.
