General Information:

Tony Cox - Evan Thomas Morgan sailed from London on the Merkara to Kilindini on 21st May 1926 at the age of 29 to find work (detail attached). His wife, Tydvil Morgan joined him in early 1947, sailing on the Winchester Castle from Southampton on 18th December 1946. The family story (my wife is his granddaughter) is that she returned to Wales some time in late 1948 or 9 in order to set up home for the family but he died a matter of weeks later from blackwater fever in Kisumu.
No-one from the family has ever seen the grave - our own attempt to find it last April was a failure - much of the graveyard is now in disrepair and no name could be identified although there were many Europeans of that period buried in that graveyard. …...  He is said to have owned a farm around Kisumu and set up the store of Morgan and Wood in the centre of Kisumu which seems to be widely remembered in the town although the building was demolished a few years ago to make way for a new development. The story goes that he was the equivalent of Mayor (perhaps you know the official title) of Kisumu and  President of the British Legion in the area. [Tydvil Morgan's address was in Porthcawl.]
