Letter from Mrs C. Hart 19 Sep 1994 In 1997 John Hudson arrived in Mombasa to work on the Uganda Railway as an artisan boiler-maker. In 1899 he returned to Britain to marry Anne Louise Thomas at Whalley Bridge, Manchester in June. They both returned to Kenya and John continued to work with the railways. In 1902 their first child Sophia was born in Nairobi. Later that year they returned to Britain and then to India, on contract to the railways there, based in Jamalpur. In 1903 Sylvia was born in Calcutta and in 1906 Jack was born in Calcutta. In 1910 the family returned to Kenya and John was once again employed by the railways. He died in 1919.
