https://transcription.si.edu/view/12181/NMAH-AC0321-0000007-016 Pickering & P.H. were over to dinner tonight. P.H. went up to the Cathedral after dinner, as they were to have a service for Mrs. Stiles. I had no idea it was so serious. She was thrown out of her gharri a few days ago, - it ran over and fell on her, almost cutting off her foot. That was serious enough, but now she is not expected to live. It is all the harder because Stiles himself is laid up in the hospital with fever now.
