He rode in Gymkhana races as an amateur jockey, his colours being blue and black. Mrs Tuson, called 'the Merry Widow' before she married Tuson, had a small Somali pony which she bought from Clutterbuck. She renamed it Kongoni and rode it astride, being one of the first women to do that, entering races and winning on occasion.
