Pat Whiteley (granddaughter): After his move to the United Kingdom from East Africa, unfortunately my grandmother barred Brian’s attempts to reach out to his sons.  Dorothy (Brian’s daughter from his 2nd marriage) told me that, later in life, Margaret wrote to Brian apologising for this act of hers.   Dorothy told me that she had the letter from ‘Peggy’ (my grandmother’s nickname). Brian had a framed photo of 3 young boys on his piano and, until Dorothy knew they were her father’s sons, she thought they were his brothers.
