Source - Wendy Tyson (daughter) He first went out in 1927 to work on his uncle Thomas Penny Robeson's Makindi Trading Co. farm north of Thika. Then to Punda Milia to work for Randall Swift and Ernest Rutherfoord at Makuyu, and eventually became manager of the farm. Stationed in Nairobi in WW2. After many years he left Punda Milia and became general manager of the 3000 acre estate called Kakuzi Fibrelands at Mitubiri. In 1964 he suffered a heart attack and while he was recuperating he was let go because of a merger between Kakuzi Fibrelands and the neighbouring estate. They left Kenya with very little money and he found a job as an office manager on a chicken farm, paying very little. His wife never settled in England and was very unhappy and depressed.Died in England in 1970.
