Liverpool Echo 27 Dec 1978 After the war he entered the cotton business, in connection with which he went to the United States in 1924. He returned to become a partner with Reynolds and Gibson, the Liverpool firm, and in 1936 became a director of the Liverpool Cotton Association. From 1941 until 1943 he served in the Middle East with the 25th LAA regiment which he commanded, and on returning to England in 1943, took command of the 150 LAA regiment until released in September 1945. He reached the rank of Lt.-Col.and was twice mentioned in dispatches. Awarded the OBE in 1946, the year in which he was elected president of the Liverpool Cotton Association. He was appointed a magistrate in 1952 and ten years later became High Sheriff of Cheshire while simultaneously being one of five deputy Lieutenants of the county. He was also a director of the Midland Bank. He leaves a widow and four sons.
