EAS 20 Oct 1939 One of Kenya's oldest residents. He came to East Africa in 1912. He is survived by his wife a son Reginald and his married daughter Mrs J G Leslie. Mrs Leslie was unable to be at the funeral because she is in Dar es Salaam serving with theFANYs. He was born in Glasgow 62 years ago, Mcfarlane was an expert cattle dealer and butcher. During the last war he was largely responsible for the supply of meat to the Forces. After the war he was a partner in the now well-known firm of the Smithfield Butchery from which he resigned some years ago. Thereafter he and his wife were for some years the popular hosts of the Naivasha Hotel. Since retiring from business he and his wife have lived in Nairobi. He was a great follower of football and his name will always be associated with the Caledonian Football Club. He was a Freemason, a member of the Lodge Scotia, Glasgow.
