EA & Rhodesia - 4/2/1954 - Captain Gerald Selby Lewis Griffiths, the Durham Light Infantry, and a former company commander in the 5th Bn. KAR, has been placed under arrest.

Mau Mau - revelations of cruelty have been made such as occurred at the court-martial of Captain Griffiths, the settlers have been as perturbed as the outside world. 

Facebook 28 June 2016 The Chuka Massacre: 20 villages killed by KAR under Griffiths. Griffiths was put on trial, not for the Chuka event, but for murdering 2 men at a roadblock.Griffiths guilty of murder and sentenced to 7 years' imprisonment.

Peter Evans, Law and Disorder, 1956  He had ordered a Somali sergeant to cut off the ear of a prisoner and to make a hole with a bayonet in the ear of another, for a wire to be threaded through it to act as a dog lead so that the prisoner could not run away.Both prisoners died. He said he had threatened to castrate the prisoners and to split up their ears, but he had never had any intention of carrying out the threats. The case raised a Parliamentary storm.
