EAS 13 Nov 1939 The two brothers came to Tavita from India in 1923, and were there engaged in growing sisal and maize. Their crops were cultivated under a first-class system of irrigation, 1500 acres being watered by furrows with the fall of two in 1000 feet only. He had suffered from kidney trouble for some time past and was taken seriously ill a few days ago. He served in the Indian Army Reserve of Officers in Mesopotamia in the Great War, while his elder brother had an important command in Flanders. 'Nick', as he was affectionately known to a wide circle of friends, was an excellent tennis player, a keen sportsman and an observant naturalist.
