Gethin - 'A Company was formed including all the property allocated to Cobb, which was known as Powysland Ltd., with Cobb as Director, John Drury as adviser, and Hill-Williams as Manager. Some months later Cobb acquired from Frank Hobson a further 3000 acres at Loydien, on Lake Naivasha. This land was purchased as a sheep farm. ............…
Gethin drove 4000 sheep from Molo to Loydien in 1909 and handed them over to Frank Hobson, "who was in charge at Loydien"'.
Carnelley map shows Hobson as owning 2,030 acres of land on Lake Naivasha next to the Djin Palace plot.
Playne - Loydien Farm - As a breeder of the finest Angora goats and ostriches, the name of Hobson is well known in Cape Colony. In 1904 Mr F.C. Hobson came to BEA, originally taking up land at Gilgil, but selling that, in October 1908, he took up Loydien Farm, 5000 acres in extent, situated on Lake Naivasha. The property has 5 miles of lake frontage, and the land is composed of hills and plains, there being plenty of timber (cedar and olive) for building purposes. The house, commanding a splendid view, is built on a hill overlooking the lake .......... The labour to be employed is Masai, as the Kavirondo are too fond of feathers, their national headdress. There is plenty of game for Mr Hobson's own use.  It is interesting to note that Mr Hobson - whose article on ostriches appears elsewhere - gained the first prize for ostrich feathers at the Nakuru Show, 1909.
