General Information:

East Africa & Rhodesia - 1/9/55 - Canon A.J. Leach, whose death is announced, served the Church Missionary Society in Uganda and Kenya from 1906 until 1937. He was then Canon of Mombasa.
North - Formerly baker in Southsea; accepted as missionary in EA 4-4-1905; ordained deacon by Bishop of London 18-6-1905; due to dep. England for Uganda autumn 1905 but, aged 28, did not leave until 28-1-1906
Foster - He went to Uganda in 1906 and Kenya 1921. He joined the CMS Kenya Mission in 1922 and was based at Butere. He translated the Bible and Prayer Book into Luhanga (now ki-Luhya) and worked as a pastoral missionary. In 1935 he was made an Honorary Canon of Mombasa Cathedral. He retired from the CMS on 1 January 1938. He worked in the Diocese of Mombasa until 1943, He died in 1954. His widow gave his communion vessels to the Mombasa Diocese.
