Malindi - In 1932 the Brady family decided to open a hotel in Malindi which they named Brady's Palm Beach Hotel. They acquired an old house, originally built by rubber plantation owner. [The first Hotel in Malindi] Ernest Hemingway with his friends Alfred Vanderbilt and Philip Percival came to Malindi for deep-sea fishing in Feb. 1934 and stayed at the Hotel.
