Ancestry As a Staff Sergeant in WO 329 of the 12202th Regiment, Military Labour Corps he supervised operations at a mica mine in BEA.  Eventually found the dust unsuited to his damaged lungs (his lungs had been severely affected by mustard gas in WW1). Received his Honourable Discharge from military service, but remained in British East Africa for his health, rather than returning home to the UK. Became a mineralogist and mining prospector. Went to S. Rhodesia and became elephant hunter and hunting guide. Bought a tobacco farm in Nyasaland c. 1930.
