General Information:

Red 22 - Member of the Railway Council - Sir Francis Sprott [not in Who's Who - must be Frederick]
Pioneers - Karen in the Twenties - I arrived in Kenya in October 1919. My father, Sir Frederick Sprott, had bought a small property, now known as Cooper's Hill, from Major C. Steele. I started to clear the heavy forest and build a couple of cottages for my parents. My father became an Elected Member of Legislative Council.
Soldier Settlement Scheme after WW1 - Class B - Capt. F.H. Sprott, 367 Upper Richmond Road, Putney, SW15 - Farm 340
Frost - ….. Sprott and his friends saw that something must be done at once and he decided to go into politics and devote himself especially to African affairs. He founded the African Affairs Committee of the Electors' Union and, although only a few members concerned themselves with this new Committee, none opposed it and it gradually won recognition as an essential part of the European political organisation. To Sprott colonialism meant "a long-term trusteeship with the obligation that the final stage would be a common roll". Major and Mrs Sprott had a farm at Karen near Nairobi, carved out of the forest in the early days by Major Sprott's father. No one could regard him as a crank, newly arrived in Kenya and ignorant of the Colony and its races, and the fact that he was able to become a leading figure in the Electors' Union was an indication of the existence after the War of an element of liberalism within the European community. He was a valuable link between European politics and those who were trying to foster a spirit of co-operation and understanding which would influence the makers of political decisions.
Red 25 - Member of Council, The Coffee Planters' Union of Kenya & EA.
Karen 50 - One of the original members of Karen Club in 1937 (Mr & Mrs).
