General Information:

Member Nairobi Gymkana Sports Club, Tennis player.
Cranworth - with his partner Mr Claude Watson was amongst the pioneers of Kenya's coffee industry, was a very welcome guest, and many was the good day's sport I had with him around his farm after spurfowl and quail before the former became a saleable proposition for the native and so speedily came to its extinction in the neighbourhood of any town. Lushington had come out originally with his lungs in a bad state. It says something for the healthiness of the country that before many years he became her champion at lawn tennis, besides being a consistent scorer of centuries in the cricket field.
Playne - Langdale Farm - Langdale is a small farm as far as acreage goes (330 acres), but it is an advanced state of cultivation. Messrs E.G. Lushington and C.R. Watson, the owners, have had their troubles as coffee-planters with the black blight, but it did not amount to much, and was soon vanquished by means of spraying. About 60 acres of land are under cultivation, including 35 acres of coffee, 20 acres of maize, and 4 acres of banana fibre. Several hundred Grevillea robusta, pepper-trees, and several thousand black wattle-trees have been planted as wind-breaks. ........ Langdale is only six and a half miles from Nairobi, and the dwelling-house is built with bamboo walls filled in with stone, and varnished inside. The roof is of iron, and the whole structure is built on piles.
