Quote from Mrs Catherine Wilson - "Mrs Mallet - After WW2 I often saw her in town dressed in long mauve/lilac 'gowns', high-heeled shoes and wonderful hats - from a bygone era. She died in the Nairobi Hospital. She was a great character seen round Nairobi in later years, dressed like a Duchess. She lived out at Ruiru and had dozens of cats. Died at 100+ but when we were children she rode around the country on a mule, and would turn up out of the blue."
Letter from Pat Tomalin - When we arrived in Nairobi Mrs Mallett had kennels on the Thika Road - and we called and looked round - she was so mad on dogs.
Hut has Mrs Mallett, pre WW1 Karura Ruaraka ?
