General Information:

Binks - 1900 - .... going up to Kikuyu to stay with Rev. A.W. McGregor, ex choirboy at St. Albans, a missionary. ....... near the McGregor's house another similar house was being constructed in readiness for the impending arrival of the Rev. Harry Leakey, his wife, child and nurserymaid. ......... one hand was almost useless. Some time previously while operating a mission station at Taveta, a leopard had attacked a native woman and child. He went to help and was mauled by the leopard.
Bewes - about 1900 - 'Bwana' McGregor is still remembered in Kabete, and there grows the orange tree that he planted. Later he founded the mission station at Weithaga ...... while Canon Leakey carried on the work at Kabete.
Tignor - in 1902 opened a station near Karuri, then moved his location to Weithaga which was to become the hub of CMS work in the Fort Hall area for a number of years.

Curtis - p. 25 - ....... We ought to get to Taveta tomorrow. Mr Maxsted, the Commissioner there, has written to us several times, giving us a very warm welcome.  Taveta, July 6th 1899 - This place is quite fascinating and Captain Maxsted the best of hosts. He is building himself such a jolly little house, which is far enough advanced to house us. The only other European in the place is the Missionary, Mr McGregor, and he is very ill with inflammation of the lungs. Capt. Maxsted combines the offices of Judge, Doctor, Commander of the Forces, Organist in Church, Postmaster and everything else in the village. He is a regular little king here. Every morning after breakfast all his out-patients arrange themselves in front of his verandah. ......…
It was strange after 6 days march and hardly meeting a soul to come on this place with its three or four thousand inhabitants, with its church, printing office, store and even a parish magazine. .....
Curtis - p. 44 - '.... The European congregation in Nairobi was first ministered to be A.M. McGregor, a CMS missionary, who bicycled in from Kabete once a fortnight in 1900-01 to take services. .…
