General Information:

Captain of Mombasa GC in 1921
Wolseley-Lewis - 1930s - Henry Parker, my Aunt Molly's husband, had a house in Mombasa, provided by the Standard Bank of which he was Manager. …….. Henry had been at the coast for years, at Zanzibar and Mombasa, and had taken advantage of the dhow trade, which came down from Oman when the monsoon was blowing from the North East. They brought beautiful carpets to sell, with a little bargaining, at a very low price. It was an excellent investment and he had a great collection. Henry had a 16ft Bermuda rigged yacht which we sailed around Kilindini harbour on cool sunny evenings, or on Sundays. …. Aunt Molly, "The Aged Aunt", always gave me a very good time, going to different beaches and having picnics. ……. The Nyali beach was the closest, across the pontoon bridge. The Aunt had a bit of land up in the hills just behind this, although I do not think she did anything with it, except have picnics there and bring back topsoil for the garden.
