General Information:

Midday Sun - 'Segar Bastard was a well-known figure; his wife sent turkeys once a week to Thika in a wagon in two tiers, hens at the bottom and gobblers at the top. The Bastard clan proliferated; it was said that if you walked down the Nanyuki street and called out 'Bastard!' every second European would turn a head.                                              Verandah - Seager Bastard's wife raised turkeys and her husband built a special wagon for them with double storied accommodation hens on top, cocks underneath. They were escorted to Nairobi by two European transport drivers who had an unexpected bonus of turkey eggs twice a day for the whole trip.

Wheel of Life - Bunny Allen - I now carried my own beautiful Rigby .470, one I had acquired from one of my near neighbours, Segar Bastard, who had a wife and a beautiful young daughter named Joy.
Nanyuki Cemetery - Plot N21 AND Plot N20 - Reserved for Mrs Bastard in loving memory / of / Segar Southey Bastard / born 24th September 1891 / died 4th January 1962
First Wheel - "Segar Bastard, one of my near neighbours, with his wife and young daughter. Over the year or two I had been in the country I had seen them from time to time. However the little daughter had been away at school and she was now, very much, a young lady, and she knew she was. After Segar in his slow deep voice had complimented me on the elephant effort, he went on: "And when are you coming over to see us, Bunny?" I had no time to answer before his wife Ethel, said: "Come tomorrow, for lunch." "Yes, do" added the pretty little daughter. …………. Joy - what an apt name! …….. She was the sweetest girl and I went to see her whenever I could. I took her out at times and danced with her whenever a dance was held at Nanyuki Sports Club. She was there, always well-chaperoned by her parents.
