Red 22 has H.S. Smith, Lake Magadi ?
Pioneers - Londiani & Mau Summit - ….. Another pair of brothers, H.S. and R. Smith, also weathered the storms of the thirties - locusts, drought and world depression - and their sons were still farming there in 1968.
mini-Sitrep XXXII - Hugh Stewart Dow Smith writes - My father Hugh Stewart Smith (Magadi 1920, then farming at Sabukia before moving to Londiani in 1928) and my mother Maggie Jane Armour Smith (née Dow from Scotland married in 1937) were there until 1964 before retiring to their home in Kinross, Scotland. In 1976 they joined me here in Albany, Australia. I, their only living issue, married Helen Stewart Brand from Scotland and we had 4 sons, Stewart Arthur, Andrew Hugh, William Angus and James Cameron. My father Hugh Stewart Smith was previously married (early 1930s) to Molly Evans from Rongai who died, and their only living issue is William Stewart Smith, now living in Perth, Australia. None of the aformentioned ever sported the hyphenated Dow-Smith. I have an idea that this aberration came about, as my mother wanted me to adopt the said name while I was a schoolboy. …………
Foster - 1957 on Londiani Church Committee; 1959 Chairman, Londiani Church Committee.
Gazette 6 Dec 1938 Nyanza Voters List has Hugh Stewart Smith, farmer, Londiani

Hugh S. D. Smith (son):  He originally grew up and educated in Fife  and entered the coal mines as an apprentice electrician, and qualified at age 18. Was recruited by the Magadi Soda Co and started off in Kenya in 1920. He and his brother, Bob, started farming at Subukia in 1924, while he carried on at Magadi. In 1926/7 he left the soda co and proceeded to farm at Londiani at end of 1927. He retired to Kinross in Scotland in 1963. In 1976 he came and joined me here Albany, where he ran a cattle farm from 1982 to his passing. A point to be made us that he obtained an advance against his crop in 1928 to buy an old harvester to bring the crop in which repayed the Kenya Farmers' Association (KFA), and never borrowed another penny! In his Kenya days he was well involved in local farming promotion and developments. He was approached by local farmers to be a director for the KFA in the 1950's to which he was elected and became finance member, and returned it to good health. Very hard working. Very determined.  Very straight and an elder of the Presbyterian church. They with the Anglicans built a church, which still stands, in Londiani
