He arrived at Mombasa on Sept. 2, 1897, from England to take up the post of Assistant Locomotive Superintendent (Stores), Uganda Railway. He became Assistant Storekeeper, Uganda Railway, in August, 1897; Senior Assistant, 1899; and Chief Storekeeper, 1903. In England Mr Reid was Assistant, Store Dept., Mersey Railway, Liverpool in January 1886, and Chief in 1889. He was Hon. Treasurer, EA Turf Club, 1902-03, and Hon. Treasurer, Uganda Railway Rifle Club, 1908-9, as well as Captain of the Nairobi Gymkhana Cricket Club, 1901-03.
