General Information:

In 1927, no sooner arrived in Makuyu, than she was sent off to board at Limuru School - (fairly spartan in those days under  Miss Roseveare & Miss Lister - posho for breakfast etc.) The very first half term after her arrival they had the big treat of being taken off for the day, all in Mr A.B. McDonell's lorry. On returning to school at dusk all was ablaze, the whole building dormitories and classrooms destroyed. She will never forget their collective shock and  her parents' shock that they had to have her back for 4 months and all the new uniform etc. burned! The girls were distributed around the district and Myra with 2 others were lucky enough to go to Brackenhurst Hotel where the dear Hudson-Canes looked after them until collected by their parents.
