Playne - Mr Battiscombe, the Acting Chief Conservator of Forests, EAP, was educated at Edinburgh University, where he gained the medal for Forestry, and in Germany. He was appointed Assistant Conservator of Forests on July 15, 1904, and became Acting Conservator of Forests on April 29, 1906. A year later (April 1st) he was Acting Chief Conservator of Forests. Mr Battiscombe is an Honorary Associate of the Royal Scottish Arboricultural Society.
