Wolseley-Lewis - Other very good friends, who had started like us from scratch with very little capital, after the war, were the Uptons. Dickie had married a beautiful city girl Muriel while in England and had bought a small farm at Bahati. They had 3 sons one of whom was Joan's godson. One day they found him floating in a garden pond and only just got him out before he drowned. They managed to educate al the boys out here but when they grew up they all 3 looked for a future elsewhere. After Independence they sold their farm and moved to Endebess where they farmed again and ran the Club with a friend of Muriel's, Brigadier Henning. Poor Muriel died of breast cancer and Dickie went on for some time managing a farm at Solai ………. Then he got glandular cancer and died.
