General Information:

Chartered Accountant and a partner with his two brothers in Longonot Ltd., a big sisal estate at Naivasha. Used to go to Kisii recruiting labour for his estate.
Pioneers - Naivasha - In the early 1920s the three McCrae brothers came to Naivasha and planted sisal on a large scale, south of the lake. At their peak they had 11,000 acres of it. The district proved unsuitable for the best quality sisal and, after many years of struggle, the McCraes finally left. Eventually Block Estates bought the land and used it to supply their hotels with eggs and poultry.
Naivasha - The three McCrae brothers came to Naivasha in the early 1920's and planted sisal in a big way on South Lake. They built nice houses on the lake shore and were a great asset to the community, Mrs Andrew McCrae being a foundation member of the EAWL. Unfortunately the district proved unsuitable for best quality sisal and after a considerable number of years the McCraes finally left the district.
Gazette 5/4/1938 - Honorary Game Warden
Garden - Naivasha - '... Now I find myself a guest by its shores! At the house of Mr and Mrs Robin McCrae. He is a big and joyful man whose garden goes down to the waters where he likes sailing with Carol, his lovely wife. ........ His sister-in-law, Mrs Andrew McCrae, has a pair of pet cheetahs in her garden which is an attractive place in the volcanic soil, among the lava rocks of Mount Longonot. The McCrae family owns miles of land on the famous lake-side ........ I was taken to the sisal factory on Robin McCrae's estate. By this time I had grown used to seeing in Kenya large tracts of agave abandoned, because the bottom had fallen out of the hemp market. ..…..'
