East Africa & Rhodesia - 11/8/55 - The Rev. F.C. Smith, who has died in this country, went to Kenya in 1928 for the Church Missionary Society, was appointed secretary of the mission in that Colony eight years later, and resigned in 1948. After being ordained in the following year, he continued to help in the finance department at Church Missionary House, London.
Foster - He arrived in Kenya in 1928 to be the Accountant for the CMS Mission to Kenya and the CMS Bookshop. In 1935 he was appointed to be the manager of the CMS Bookshop. On 7 December 1936 he was appointed to be the Secretary to the CMS Kenya Mission. He was noted for his tact and patience, his wisdom and his practical ability. In 1948 he retired to the UK after 20 years service in Kenya and he worked for CMS Headquarters in London for the next 2 years. He was ordained on Trinity Sunday in 1949 and he died in England on 17 April 1955.
