East Africa & Rhodesia - 3/10/57 - Mrs Helene Frederica Boyes, whose death in East Africa is reported, was the widow of the late John Boyes, "King of the Kikuyu". She arrived in Kenya 46 years ago, and though then living under very hard conditions showed the hospitality which she was always to practise until her health began to fail in recent years. All the old-timers knew her, and anyone down on his luck could be sure of help and hospitality at the Boyes' farm. There is a son, also named John.
