She married in Mombasa, in February 1907, Philip Raphael, well known in Nairobi as a businessman, auctioneer, general merchant, cabinet-maker, wheelwright and Land Agent. He was a member of the first Convention of Associations and the Nairobi chamber of commerce. He died in 1925 and Gertrude married Michael Harrtz, an early arrival in East Africa (1901), founder of the tinsmiths Harrtz & Bell, who died in 1943.
