Gazette - 26/1/16 - Probate & Admin. - E. V. Gordon dec'd; 22/4/14 - Edgar Vaughan Gordon who died near Melka Gala, NFD between 24/12/13 and 4/1/14
Llewellin - NFD 1914 - "we passed the site of a trader's camp of a year before, from which the trader, named Gordon had been panicked by a report which he took to mean that Somalis were on the way to kill him. This poor young man was without an interpreter and had only a few Meru herdsmen for his purchases of sheep, who also could not understand the Boran language, and they had run off and left him alone. It was obvious he had passed his last night there in terror, as his diary was found there and he had fired many rounds of ammunition from his rifle and had killed a number of sheep in his boma. His rifle was found leaning against a tree and some scraps of bone and a tuft of his red hair were found weeks later about 60 miles away, along the track to Archer's Post. The tragedy was that there was no reason for his panic, as the Boran were merely coming to him as the nearest white man to complain that the Somalis were encroaching on their grazing grounds."
