Gazette 24/1/1917 - Obituary - His Excellency the Governor deeply regrets to announce the death of Captain H N Surgey, Assistant Junior Staff Surveyor, killed in action in German East Africa on 3/1/1917.
Captain Surgey held a Commission in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment (Special Reserve) and joined the Protectorate Survey Staff on 29/7/1914. He was seconded for service with the Arab Rifles on 18/10/1915. He was a most conscientious and reliable officer, keen and energetic and his loss will be severely felt.
