He spent a brief spell in the Kenya Rifles during the war, but was recalled to work in the tea industry again. About 1949 Reg went to work in Kisii with Mr McInnes, recruiting labour for African Highlands and he ultimately took over from Mr McInnes.
Helen and Reg lived in Kisii until Reg retired in 1958, when they went to live on their own tea estate at Chemai, near Mara Mara, where Harry and Janet Borman lived. Helen and Reg ploughed and planted their estate, and saw it do very well. About 1970 they sold up and went to live in Malta. During their stay in Kisii they got to know Richard Gethin very well and attended his wedding to Winifred in 1953.   Source: Eleanor Fielder
