General Information:
Jambo 63 - Arriving in Kenya in 1932 to join her husband Cecil she soon became involved with numerous charitable organisations, holding sewing parties for the Red Cross, running a canteen for the Forces and then with her dear friend Dora Katzler embarked on the mammoth task of running the catering at the Royal Show and over 12 years they raised large sums for the benefit of the EAWL. She was very involved in the development of the Weal House scheme, which was to provide a retirement home for pioneer women. In 1961 Janet and Cecil left Kenya to go to the Sudan with the World Bank, but sadly Cecil became ill and died in 1963 and Janet decided to return to Kenya to make a new home and life. In 1970 she decided to return to England to be with her family and settled in Guildford where a warm welcome awaited her many visitors. ......…
