Dugmore from Machakos to Mombasa arr. Mombasa 19/11/1898; while on escort duty suffered an attack of 'Loco ataxy' on recovering drew his pay & dep. Mombasa for the south by dhow; tried unsuccessfully to obtain employment with ZP, ill at Zanzibar late 1898; sent south from Zanzibar to Fort Salisbury at British Government expense on surety of £30 lodged by father with FO in London Jan 1899.
