During his 37 Missionary years in the Protectorate his adventures with man and beast were many and varied, but the whole of its inhabitants, in one way or another, owe him sincere gratitude and appreciation for the extraordinary good work he rendered to the country. In 1930, the year in which he retired from the CMS Service in the Protectorate, he was appointed Honorary Canon of the Uganda Church.
