Tom Lawrence: Was part of the Magadi Defence Force as a private (www. stockport1914-1918.co.uk). He then went on to join the 3^rd KAR, and appears to have been at Jasin on 15^th Jan 1915, and as taken prisoner (www. stockport1914-1918.co.uk). He is reported in the Times as having appeared to have died of dysentery on (The Times, 24^th Nov 1917). Sergt. J.S. Burgess (11823) actually died on the 6^th March 1917 whilst with the KAR. His memorial is in Dar-es-Salaam (CWGC website).
