Ernest left England for South Africa where he met and married a young widow (Margaret Ellen Jenkins née Aggett (Aunt Nellie)) with two sons Stanley and Bryan Jenkins, whose father had been killed in the Boer War. They lived in E. London ......... Ernest and Margaret had two sons, Frederick and Harry Rental Nye-Chart who emigrated to Kenya on the SS Adolf Woermann, with the Aggett/Smith families. Ernest took over and managed the Grand Hotel in Nairobi in what is now Moi Avenue
