(Cotton) He continued his inquiries when he reached England  a year later and the British Cotton Growing Association made him a gift of five varieties of seed for experimental purposes. The sixty two bags in which they were sent reached Uganda in 1904. As the result of many experiments he proved that the variety most suitable for Uganda was 'Uplands Long Staple American'. A variety of seed was distributed to the Africans the following year and that proved to be the beginning of an industry the exports of which during the first nine mionths of 1933 totalled over £3,000,000 and which steadily increased. When the Prince of Wales visited Uganda in 1928 Mr Borup was presented to HRH by the Governor, Sir William Gower, as 'The man who started the Uganda Cotton Industry'. Today - In 1905 the introduction of cotton by Mr K.E. Borup, and industrial agent of the CMS, not only started a great Native industry but indirectly led to the making of an arterial system of excellent roads, which long remained the envy of surrounding countries.
Norden - 1923 - a missionary of the CMS, and one of the men who walked from the east coast to Kampala 25 years ago, is due the credit of the present cotton industry
Tucker - took over the Industrial Mission of Bulange hill in 1899 from Mr J.B. Purvis. Under Borup's superintendence it progressed beyond our most sanguine anticipations. ........ whose untiring industry and mechanical skill much success is due. ................ 1901 - building of a new cathedral superintended by Mr Borup who also drew the plans.
