Bowkers - In 1904 the three brothers, Alec, Russell and Gordon, were among the first settlers in British East Africa, or Kenya Colony as it is now called. …….. With his brother Russell he used to go on many hunting expeditions into the north-eastern Transvaal and in his young days was well known as a hunter. He never married and lived most of his life with his brother. He died up in the Kedong Valley and is buried at one of the mission stations there. Poor old Alec, he never did himself much good, and when he was old he used to drink more than was good for him, but he was a good smoker!
