Gazette 17/1/1917 - Obituary - His Excellency the Governor announces with deep regret the death of Mr J.A. Bakewell, Treasury Assistant at Kisumu on 1/1/1917. Mr Bakewell joined the Protectorate Service on 18/12/1908 and had proved himself to be a capable and reliable officer. After the outbreak of war he acted for some time as Financial Adviser to the Military Authorities. He was a man of generous and kindly disposition, a loyal friend and a faithful servant of the Government.
