General Information:

Police - 1908 - When Brig.-Gen. W.F.S. Edwards came to Nairobi as Inspector General of Police he brought Browne with him as his Staff Officer. He had served previously with the Bombay Staff Corps during the SA War (1899-1902) and with the SA Constabulary from 1906 to 1908. ........ In 1928 Capt. Browne, ex-Staff Officer to the Inspector General of the EA and Uganda Police and later Asst. Commissioner under W.K. Notley, was appointed Commissioner of Police in Tanganyika. Capt. Browne retired in 1929; and he died, aged 87, at Churt in England early in May 1959.

EA & Rhodesia - 14/5/59 - Mr Percy F. Browne has died at Churt, aged 87. He was educated at Uppingham and subsequently joined the Bombay Staff Corps. He served in the South Africa War from 1899 to 1902 and in the South African Constabulary from 1906 to 1908. In the latter year he joined the Kenya Police in which he served until 1920. He then transferred to Tanganyika as Commander of Police and Prisons. He retired in 1929.
