General Information:

Last Chance - (1948) - 'despite his 22 years in the service, he looked hardly more than that age. Fresh-cheeked, clear-eyed, spick and span in his uniform, with his silver insignia shining, he was one of those Englishmen, such as you will find all over the world, who look as if they were just born to keep the peace in the far-off and troubled places.'
Habari 27 - 'He was notable as being one of two servicemen captured by the Italians at Moyale the day before they declared war in 1940. He was one of the few, rapidly diminishing, survivors of that era and will mainly be remembered by younger generations as O.C. Gilgil Police Training Camp which processed most of the contract enlistment in the early days of the Emergency. He was later O.C. Coast and ended his service in charge of the Police Central Armoury, Gilgil. He never married and his sole relative is a niece in the south of England.'
Police - story of his capture by the Italians in June 1940 (pp. 99-102)
Staff 39 - Acting Asst. Superintendent, Kenya Police in 1940, appointed 1940. Appointed Inspector 1938. Originally Constable 1925. Captured by the Italians at the beginning of WW2
Colonial - Police Constable Kenya 1925; Asst. Inspr. 1927; Inspr. 1938; Asst. Supt. 1940; Gold Coast 1948; Supt. 1950
