Carman - Mathari Mental Hospital when the MO i/c, Dr H.L. Gordon unexpectedly retired on account of ill-health. Gordon must have been nearly 70 years old at the time, but he had had some psychiatric experience and Paterson had taken him on because there was literally no one else available
