CWGC - Charles Sidney Beattie Montagu DFC, Flight Lieutenant 86433, 208 Sqdn., RAFVR who died on Friday, 24th July 1942. Age 24. Son of Monthermer Stanley Hume Montagu, MC, and of Harriet Jessie Montagu (née Forbes), of Thomson's Falls, Kenya. Alamein Memorial, Egypt

One of the original '500' men in the Kenya Regt. in 1937. (KR 208). He was shot down by enemy aircraft near El Imayid. 
Tom Lawrence: At 1430hrs Ft/Lieut. C.S.B Montagu DFC of 208 Squadron had taken off in a Hurricane PR1, escorted by a Mk. II, to carry out a photo reconnaissance sortie. Near El Imayid station, when diving for home with his mission completed, he was attacked by three Messerschmitt Bf 109s and shot down.
