Howard Smith (son): Grew up at Eldama Ravine (when not in school).  Attended Kenton College from its inception until 1926 when he left for Brockhurst School in England, then attended Wellington College in 1928.  In 1933 he returned to Kenya and managed Canada Farm at Equator for his father until the outbreak of WW2.  After the war he managed Miniota farm, Ainabkoi until eventually inheriting half of it following his father's death.  The other half was sold to the Wattle Company to pay "Death Tax".  Following the acquisition of the farm by the Settlement Board, he remained at Ainabkoi for two years working to set up the settlement scheme. He then transferred to Eldama Ravine and set up the Sabatia/Eldama Ravine settlement scheme.  In 1966 he moved to Kisumu as project manager of the Ahero Irrigation Project.
