m-Sitrep XXX - 'Gerry' as he was known, was a household name in Kenya cricket in the '40s and '50s. A late developer who featured in none of the pre-WW2 Prince of Wales XIs, he burst upon the scene with a century for the Officials v Settlers whilst still a Gunner shortly after the war and from then onwards was a high-scoring batsman and brilliant slip-fielder for his club, Parklands, and in representative cricket for the Officials, Europeans, and Kenya. The few of us, still living, who were fortunate enough to have played with and against Gerry will mourn his passing. A. Allen - A prominent Kenya tennis player.
