General Information:

On the outbreak of war worked, as Personal Secretary, to the Resident Naval Officer, Nairobi. In 1943 married Tom Duncan, a British Officer in the Buffs Regt. and seconded to the KAR. In 1943 joined the FANYs/WTS and served in the Signals Section until 1946. After demobilisation worked for the Principal Immigration Officer as |Personal Secretary from 1946-47. Worked for EAR&H as a telephonist in the Chief Mechanical Engineer's Dept. from 1948-52. Joined the Kenya Judiciary in 1952 and worked in the Law Courts as Personal Secretary to the Chief Justice of Kenya until 1967. Also worked part-time as a Hansard Reporter in the House of Representatives during Parliamentary Sessions of the National Assembly. In 1967 was appointed Secretary to the International Olympic Committee and travelled to S. Africa with members of that Committee when the question of apartheid in sport was being investigated. Joined the EAWL in 1970. From 1972-74 served as Chairman of the Spring Valley Branch of the League. Served from 1976-78 as Secretary to the Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW) Coordinating Committee, together with Mandeleo ya Wanawake, organising the ACWW 15th Triennial Conference held in Nairobi at the Kenyatta Conference Centre in 1977. In 1978 appointed as a member of the EAWL Executive Committee and served as its Chairman from 1979-81. In 1979 was appointed to the additional post of a Vice Chairman of the League until 1982. Settled in England in 1983.
