Secretary of the Committee elected to form the Railway Golf Club in 1922 and first secretary in 1923. Elected Hon. Life Member of Railway GC 1930. Winner of Felling Cup - Railway GC Championship - 1933, 1935/36. In 1932 a remarkable struggle took place for the Rhodes Cup, one of the Club's main trophies. It was won by Mr J.G. Lindeman, with Mr P. Macfarlane runner-up after a battle lasting over 144 holes and an estimated walk of over 40 miles. The conditions of the competition as then played were 72 holes against bogey.
After a tie for the first place there was a replay over 36 holes which, resulting in a further tie, lead to a further replay over another 36 holes. This was won by Mr Lindeman on the last brown.
