General Information:

Friend and partner of E. Dobbie of Nairobi, he took over the firm in 1926, having been trained in the watchmaking and jewellery trade by a distinguished firm in Edinburgh.

Macmillan - 1930 - The business was established in 1906 by Mr M.E. Dobbie and carried on by him until his death in 1926 when it was taken over by Mr George S. Belfield, who has been in the colony since 1905. Mr Belfield was trained in the watchmaking and jewellery trade in the service of the distinguished, but now defunct, firm of Marshall & Co., Jewellers to Queen Victoria and King Edward, Princes Street, Edinburgh.
